i’ve been seeing a slew of posts on fitness and weight loss goals the past few weeks & i’m really loving it. so this diy day i decided to do something a little different… i’m going to share with you one awesome diy & exercise i have learned along my road to staying fit.
one of the best exercises you can do for toning your body is the kettle swing. i’ve been doing it for a while now and i really love it. it works your entire posterior, which is key for the ladies. in a book i’ve recently glanced through, the 4-hour body, tim ferris, describes the kettle swing form & has an awesome cheap way to make your own kettle-weight-thingy. he uses a 12″ bar for the center, i use one a bit shorter since i am quite shorter, but the rest is the same.
here it is:
& here is perfect kettle-swing form:
if you’d like a few guidelines in how much weight/reps check out his blog post. once you get the hang of it you will love it. i do my set outside, away from windows & away from the dogs (they watch me from the kitchen sliding glass door).
oh, & i promise you will not get super crazy big muscles. it is impossible for a woman to look like a body builder without the testosterone or growth hormones.
& if you are really interested in getting tone & starting a weight training regimen, check out stumptuous.
& some very inspiring ladies at where are my knees?; getting fit as a group. great work ladies.
& i’ll blog more about what my routine(s) consist of in later posts…
& happy st patty’s day! time for me to go get a guinness.

this is great, thanks! I just got the boypiece to start going to the gym with me. I love it cuz it has a pool and is open 24 hours! but I also love having some key exercises I can do at home on those nights I can't drag myself out the door and into the public eye
I just recently joined a bootcamp sort of class, and I'm having a love/hate thing with it. I really hate hard work, and I usually don't exercise much unless it's a sport or something competitive. But I'm trying to at least PRETEND I know I need to get fit. Ugh. Such hard work though!
Cool post and love the pic of the dogs!!!
Happy Weekend!
